St Austell Community Hospital entrance

St Austell Community Hospital offers a number of inpatient beds and services and the X-Ray department is open Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm. We also provide emergency hormonal contraception. The hospital has limited shop facilities so patients are advised to bring toiletries, change of clothes, foot wear, medicines and books/magazines. The hospital is also home to Penrice Birthing Unit which is hosted by Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust.

Visiting Hours

Between 2pm and 4pm in the afternoon and 6pm to 8pm in the evening, with protected mealtimes between 5pm and 6pm.

Minor Injuries Unit

The hospital has a Minor Injury Unit open every day (including public holidays) between 8am and 10pm. Our MIU staff try to see patients as quickly as possible and generally waiting times are less than in an A&E department. If your injury is not serious, you can get help at an MIU rather than going to A&E, allowing A&E staff to concentrate on people with serious, life-threatening conditions and saving you a potentially long wait.
